Circle Line Ferry
The best tour of New York is the Circle Line, going all around Manhattan, in three hours. You start at the pier near the 42nd, west coast of the island. You go south, get neat Ground Zero, get a close look at the Statue, then back north, under Brooklyn Bridge, then to the northern tip, and back south to were you start. I think its a great way to tour Manhattan, and also get some views of the Outer Boroughs.
Just north of the pier is the Intrepid Sea-Air-Space museum. The jet carrier shown here *is* the museum. A small one in fact, as it was used in WW2, but still interesting to visit.
This shot is taken a few minutes after leaving the pier, its a bit dark, but above the Intrepid was a complete set of war boats, as it was Fleet Week.
Cruising near Ground Zero, the whole lot of people all get emotionnal, with the according music and so on. I forgot to say there was a narrator explaining everything around, which made the tour interest by itself.
The farthest from south Manhattan...
... and a lot closer, with Battery Park notably.
Near Wall Street here, on the south-east part of the trip.
The Brooklyn Bridge, arguably one of the most beautiful of the world. It certainly is a landmark of the City.
A good view of the Empire States here, crushing all nearby buildings in this part of Manhattan. You also see the tip of the Chrysler building on the right.
Still the chrysler, with the UN building, rather dull, but distinctive anyhow.
This is from the north of the Hudson River. On the left is Manhattan, with all the parks lining the western part of the island, you dont see much of the city itself.
And back to the pier, still with the Empire States here.
